So Triple X domains go on general sale tomorrow. Obviously the thought process behind them is for adult sex-related sites, but as we all know other domain extensions supposed to be used for specific things have become more widespread in their use - do you think the same will happen with these? Will a .xxx become another purely cosmetic addition to all the other extensions we pick up when we buy a domain name?
Whilst .xxx domains make it easier for responsible people to spot porn sites and block them this is a remarkable piece of money making. During the Sunrise period corporations such as Dixons, McDonalds and so on had the opportunity to pay money to 'register' domains such as dixons.xxx and mcdonalds.xxx to protect corporate brands and reduce brand damage. That's the first chunk of income. The second chunk of income comes from the porn industry itself, to protect their brand image they'll need to buy .xxx domains to match their current domains. And then it is the third income stream, new .xxx domains and the chancers. ICAAN have been very clever by procrastinating over the .xxx issue and waiting 10 years for the internet to mature before issuing a decision which creates some marvelous revenue streams. Hats off to some long term and visionary thinking. Maybe .xxx should be .£££/.$$$
The oldest drive-in restaurant in Indiana, opened in 1929, is just across the river in West Lafayette - Triple XXX Their chopped steak sandwiches are simply the best. Azhria, don't tease us with candy like that. Just ship me across some Tunnock's Caramel Wafers. And a case of Irn Bru.
I say boo... They are trying to create hype on TV about you should get your .xxx domain before someone else gets it and makes an abuse site of your site. A lot of corporations and universities are falling for that marketing scheme, too. The domain is a lot for a year and I don't understand why, who would want a .XXX domain? Its more adult looking than anything... I will stick to my $9.95 a year .com domains
I'm this >< close to firing off a nasty message to Buy.XXX about their racist TV advert. They need to find a way to legitimize their business, but that shite is crossing the line.
Interesting article in the Irish Independent http://www.independent.ie/business/technology/vatican-porn-web-address-snapped-up-2971236.html God only knows what it will be used for. OT - How many posts needed to post proper links?
Don't know what you mean - the link is exactly how you post it. If you want to use text.. highlight it and then click the link image in the editor to add the url to the word.
The ads I have seen on TV were more or less promoting violent street gangs... That is not the kind of marketing I would choose to use. A lot of universities and businesses are grabbing the .XXX TLDs because they fear abuse... However, I ask, what abuse is there? I for one live in the age of site phishing like we all do, I always make sure the URL link is correct... I don't see how a .XXX can be used for abuse that much
