I got this idea from this guy's thread: http://adminextra.com/threads/vbulletin-laugh-of-the-week.5348/ Except mine isn't inspired by support team comments, but just laughs and drama in general. I love xenforo forum software and it's great support team. I don't think I can get away with creating this thread in xenforo's Off Topic forum because if I link to a thread that was locked, the members who were arguing in that thread might end up arguing in my Off Topic thread and get my thread locked as well.
My laugh of the week will always be Digital Doctor talking out his ass about things he obviously knows nothing about, and trying to slight myself (And most recently Kim, in an attempt to get a rise out of me). If the man spent half the time he spent making pointless comments/posts, or signing up on every forum posted on XenForo, he might actually be able to do something more than annoy the staff and designer/developers.
I've messaged Digital Doctor several times for answers about some of the things he was talking about in threads and almost each time he was like 'huh? I dunno?' I was under the impression that he was one of those coders that was just being snobby and didn't want to help but if he genuinely didn't know then lol @ this post even more.
Digital Doctor isn't a coder; he's a busy body that sticks his nose into peoples work and pesters them. The majority of designers and developers got fedup with it and went directly to staff to get him to stop (Which he hasn't). You'll also be able to find posts of Kier, and Brogan getting fedup with his antics.
Ah man they closed the Oh Kier thread! Since I can't post in it anymore I'll add my two cents. Kier has set himself out to be the mascot of xenForo. The only thing missing is bobble-head toys, Halloween costumes and t-shirts. He has videos and always posting barefoot pics and even has a barefoot smiley, plus other coders have added Keir-oriented graphics such as a barefoot mood. In other words, he is popular. When popular dude's go missing, they will be the talk of the town. Popular dudes are always the talk of the town, whether they are there or not. It's like high school all over again or TMZ in the media. I'm not sure why I took my time to state the obvious but for those reading this who do not understand the hoopla, it may make sense to you now.
Actually, what you have are a group of immature kids who have yet to figure out that it's none of their business as to what Kier is doing. Privacy is a foreign concept for people like that.
I imagine it's like being a celebrity, just not on as grand a scale. He's a "name" within the forum world. Most people who use forums don't know who he is, but those people who run forums do. So in our little forum world, he's probably akin to... oh I dunno.... who's popular these days? I don't really have any interest in reading celebrity news/gossp magazines to find out what all the film/music stars are up to. So long as the ones I like supply me with the films/music I like what they do in the personal life is their business - I feel the same way about Kier (no offense if you're reading this ) I like Kier, I like Mike, I like Ashley, Lawrence and Brogan.... but I don't want to know what happens every minute of their personal life, I'm only interested in the forum-related aspects that may affect my sites Other than that, I'll wish their lives well and stay out of it
I completely agree, I tend to only read content that's directly related to the product and I hadn't really noticed Kier's absence from the forum. I won't speculate why that might be, it's his choice to post there or not.
Case of overly attached customers thinking they're now strong stakeholders and having to be educated to the contrary. When there's something to report, they'll report it. Derp. Have to admit there's a little person inside me going "I gotta know ALL THE THINGS!!!!!" too, but that's just the natural result of being an insufferable know-it-all, Socrates' admonition to know nothing be damned.
Not to mention that the majority of the speculation was rude and pathetic (More so than speculation in general). I'll just say my ignore list got larger .
Ah so THIS is part of what your talking about: http://xenforo.com/community/threads/is-this-true-about-forum-security-on-shared-hosting.28549/ lollllll
lol It is like a celebrity. I didn't know how popular he was until when during an argument, this other admin threatened to destroy my site cause he's best friend's with Kier. That's like someone saying their buddy 50 cent is gonna do a drive-by shooting on me.
Man did I get good laugh out of this thread. http://xenforo.com/community/threads/suggest-styles-for-me-to-make.30088/ Once again one of my threads got locked up for some off topic discussion that developed into an argument like my previous locked thread. It got real weird at the end with people going into each other's personal life and stuff but that's the internet. Serious Business. *takes notes to make a comic book theme skin, starcraft, barbecue skin, warcraft theme and popcorn theme for the actual members who participated to the purpose of the thread*
Wouldn't worry about it. You've got a "Christian Dad" and a teenager commenting, wouldn't worry a thing. Oh and I see it was Mr that lead you to the tweets in the first case, he must have a might big spoon for all the stirring he manages.
Do you have a problem with Christians? Are you some sort of bigot? I happen to be that "Christian Dad" and a designer for many years, imagine that. You are correct about that dolt Gary, he lives for running around the internet just stalking and seeing what kind of lies and gossip he can spread. FWIW, I have already apologized to T8L over at xf.com (not for having a valid opinion, but for him being exposed to it in the way he was plus getting his thread closed)...just sayin.
Yes. No but I make an exception to grown adults that push nonsense on children. I take equal exception to all religious parents so don't take it personally. I'm happy for your career. Agreed. I would have said that it was very Christian of you but we both know that will be hollow of me.
