What I mean by this is are you an early starter that'll start designing and getting the whole christmas feel to your site months in advance? Or are you like me with my christmas shopping leave everything until christmas eve (the last minute). Are you one of those that don't really get into the christmas spirit and leave your site as it is or maybe your one for going all hog and going overboard with decorating your site for the festive season.

Before you ask, yes I've already started. :)

I like to have my deccies up on December 1st - on the physical plane it's actually a big day in our house. Whatever day Dec 1st falls on the kids get all excited, we have a buffet and spend the evening with christmas tunes blaring decorating the house and tree :D...

(that means you have a month, Shelley LOL)

I put up a poll for one of my sites asking if they wanted holiday themes or a cosmic death ray.

They voted for the cosmic death ray.

I tend to put them up around the 15th roughly at home, I only tend to bother with Christmas decorations on my sites when the site has a member base, my new forum should have some decor put up and probably will have it up around the same time as we decorate the house. Im not heavily into Christmas decor though, normally it is just the tree, we have been meaning to make thing more Christmassy for years but never bother in the end.

I used to start on 1st advent with vB. But on IP.B I haven't found a Christman skin yet which is not too cheesy. So I don't :)

The two really big ones we dress up for are Halloween and Christmas. Halloween, can be kind of an eyesore if it gets really garish, but Christmas is easier on the eyes, with the skins we get.

We'll usually get the Christmas skin up and going around Dec 1st

I won't even think of any Christmas decoration, either offline or online, until at least the day after Thanksgiving (US). I am bit old fashioned in growing up with the tradition of using Black Friday weekend (the Friday & weekend after Thanksgiving) as the time to dig out the decorations and start putting them up with the tree not going up until the week of Christmas.

To be honest, I don't think I've ever decorated my forums for christmas, hmmm, I guess I should start doing that lol, make it seem cheerier for the holidays, that is when I get a forum up.

Now I think about it, in the reality we generally put xmas decorations up around the 12th Dec and take them down around 5th Jan.

I enjoy decorating my sites for Christmas, but I'm not a graphical guy so I prefer playing the April fools pranks on April 1st :)

I'm actually thinking about getting some decorations set up the week after Thanksgiving--since I'm a music site, I'll be adding Christmas music to the rotation, and I want the forum to be festive too, of course. :) Now I'll just have to figure out how to do it! :p

p.s. And of course, this has us racing for our new wintery white skin, we're not sure if we'll be able to update in time to 3.2 and then use one of their skins, we may opt out for the one we used last year for 3.1.
Hatsu, hope you have some luck with your free santa pic!

I generally don't decorate for hollidays. When I was using vB I would have an announcement on the forums sometimes with a decoration but that was about it.

I would decorate but I am on the fence about it due to diversity. I mean while someone celebrates Christmas (like myself), another may not and it could be seen as unfair to them.

That really irritates me. :p If you celebrate Christmas, then decorate your site. I wouldn't be offended if someone celebrated the Hindu Festival of Lights (Diwali) by putting a style on their forum - I don't celebrate the festival, but I can respect that others do.

What can I say? haha. I have worked in the business industry forever now :p Diversity has always been an issue. I will still post a "Merry Christmas" topic though. If other don't like it, they don't have to respond :) Now maybe making a "snowing" theme could be an alternative for celebrating the winter months, then everyone can be happy :)
