Both my sites require manual approvement of new members so that gets checked first. Secondly I hit the 'new posts' button to see if there is anything spammy or queries to deal with. On here I check for reported posts, then alerts, and then 'What's New'
For IPS it goes: Staff Forums > Client Lounge > Feedback Forum > Bug Tracker (because by the time I get here I'm also doing tickets). For other forums I moderate at: Staff forums > My Assigned Forums. I only use View New Content on forums I'm an administrator at, so for those it's usually Staff Forums > VNC. Forums I'm a member (non-staff) of... I only check the forums I'm interested in. I don't use VNC for these... it's faster for me to just check them individually using tabs.

New posts. Posts awaiting moderation Last 24 hours of activity I get my PMs via sent via email to my phone so I see those already.
