Yes, I also expected things to slow down to a more steady pace. I'm certainly not going to take the first few days posting as an indication of how busy we'll always be, but on the other hand it did give us an influx of new content which, in turn, brought new people ( who are posting ) onto the site.

I've said it before, I didn't build the site to be a money-maker (although help with the upkeep would be nice hehehe), I built it as a place with a bit of a more relaxed atmosphere than the other sites around at the time. So long people come and post occasionally and want the site to here, then I'm happy for it to stay. When there are no posts being made for weeks (as was the case) then it's time to reconsider.

We are happy with how things are panning out. Activity is up, we have a cleaner look which is a 100% more navigable to get to where you want. Upgrades to the latest version is done within 120 seconds (2 mins) and more importantly azhrialilu feels she can now come back to a site she owns and not feel daunted by it. A worthwhile conversion which really speaks for itself.

@rev - when we converted from vb3.8 to ipb activity didn't pick up, if memory recalls it declined.

I think it's silly to think anyone but forum admins wouldn't bother posting on a board because of the owner's choice of software. Outside of navigation familiarity most people could careless.

I'm a bit of a software snob who genereally shys away from forums run on freebie packages. In my experience once someone has invested money in software they tend to take things seriously and put more effort into it.

The progression of AdX from vB to IPB to XF has been interesting to watch and if anything I'm just a little more familiar with IPB and XF because of it.

Our activity dropped quite drastically within the first month of converting to IPB - maybe that was due to most of our members being staunch vB users.. I don't know. But we definitely didn't see an influx of IPB users taking their place and activity began a rapid decline.

I guess I really don't see anything to be gained by taking an argumentative position in any of this. Some people like vanilla ice cream, whilst others like chocolate. And (horror of horrors) there are even those who don't care for ice cream at all. There's no reason to argue about it, as that only accomplishes one end - irritating people and driving them away.

I don't know about anyone else, but I have never been able to change anything about my forums and declare whether it was right or wrong, within the span of 12-14 days. I think Lisa is satisfied she made a good choice, because she's more comfortable using this software than she was with IPB. So that makes it right for her.

The bottom line on whether is was the right move or not is when we look at the site in another 6 months and 6 months after that. Only then will we able to start identifying definite trends, with respect to search traffic and actual forum participation levels.

I have to admit I was a little skeptical about what Kier was doing at vB, because vB 3.7 and 3.8 were disappointing for me. After reading his declaration to the court (which we all need to remember anyone would have written to portray his or her self in a favorable light), it seems I was placing a lot of blame on the coders, when it appears they were just following orders. I admit my own error in that.

And actually, I think Bob had posted he had set up a new site on XenForo, didn't care for things in the Admin CP and decided to pull it all down and set everything up around IPB. Maybe I've missed him saying something more recently, and if that be the case, I apologize.

I am thankful different people like different things. This world would get pretty boring if we all agreed on everything. How would we like to see every car painted black, every house painted white and every restaurant sporting the golden arches? It would take the competitive nature out of doing business. Anyone that has witnessed the differences in IPB 3.1.x and IPB 3.2.x can see some of the changes inspired by XenForo's appearance in the marketplace. XenForo challenged IPS to up the ante and I sure IPB will return the favor. And we are the benefactors, because we get to see our personal favorite forum package improving, rather than just being stagnant.

We're happy with the move, how the conversion went. Upgrades have been quick (within a couple of minutes) so it's nice to see we can upgrade within minutes and not worry planning everything and focus on posting content and resources, :)

Is that all a woot? I will out do that with Woot Woot!

Am really liking the changes here, as I said it is because of this site, bbsmiley and co that I decided to start my new venture with xenForo rather than the other software :)

Well, to be honest, I've always found constant (big) changes as a bad sign - that being said, I really like what you've done here. :)

Hopefully this is the one. ;)
