I think what amuses me most about Gary running off to post his little thread is the lack of thought or investigation behind it. First he claims Admin Extra posted the entire interview, none of the staff posted the thread and Mark B only posted the section with the no comments (which Gary has also done on his own forum), a link was also posted to the entire interview which I didn't see any of the staff (me including) demanding be removed. Surely if we were jealous of TAZ, we wouldn't want references or links to anything there? Then he claims we're always sniping at TAZ... where? I rarely voice an opinion on TAZ, one way or another! TAZ has been around a long time, and yeah of course it'd be nice if we were as big as they are, but they have six years on us and it's unlikely we'll catch up and I'm not even going to try Howard has been interviewing people for years, which is the exact reason why I found the posted interview strange - it's unusual for him to post up questions that haven't been answered, they'd usually just be removed from the final interview. To suggest we're ...*checks tags* jealous... feeling "pure jealousy"... trying to gain "more publicity", yadda yadda blah blah is just a childish attempt to generate trouble and attention. It makes me laugh that he was happy to post here right up to the point I told I'd had enough of his constant bickering with Mark B and that he was being childish.... I then predicted to the rest of the staff that he'd throw a tantrum .. and low and behold... tada I was, in fact, waiting for a thread to appear on his own site claiming all sorts of silliness. He did it when we opened, then he decided he "liked" us so stopped.. and now we're back to the usual rubbish again. Not surprised in the slightest, been expecting it for months. But hey, while he's targeting us he's leaving someone else alone, so it's all good
Because the circuit of people who like to play peanut gallery to VBSI/IB is just such a vast, untapped audience for you to draw in, obviously mentioning that article will summon forth vast amounts of attention and ad revenues. Sorry, couldn't resist. I have no illusions that my private peanut gallery experience with keeping up on VBSI is anything more than my personal version of a spectator sport.
If that were the secret to a revenue stream, you'd have to profit share with Shamil and the like anyway.
Yeah, we certainly would! We wouldn't have a clue what's going on with the litigation without Shamil!
Well, you should be jealous of them, you know. I just checked my account over there. I registered for that site some 80+ months ago. And I have a grand total of 5 posts. Whereas I've been here barely 22 months and this will make post number 554. See, if you were doing things as "well", you wouldn't have had to endure me as you have. I'll just be going for my coat...
I have nothing against TAZ, I still visit and try to post there when I can. I just don't have the time to go around visiting every site related to a topic these days. I barely get a chance to visit the xenforo forums, and I really need to be over there as much as possible since I got big plans for after the holidays.
To be honest, I prefer AdminExtra to TAZ. Used to go to the latter quite a fair bit some years back but the community isn't what it used to be. A sudden influx of people who forced "wannabe SEO" knowledge on people learning the community management trade was ridiculous. Couldn't bare it any longer. It's why I went and created bbAuthority (which turned out to be a complete flop - my fault). AdminExtra is a completely different community to TAZ, with a much more focused audience. And it's ran by Az, what more could be better?
Oh noes, we're goin' far afield! Back on topic! From the Licensed Customer Feedback Forum: The juxtaposition of topic and topic starter made me giggle.
I'm afraid Gary seems to have "issues" of some sort. I don't dislike him, I feel rather sorry for him. I daresay his current site will have a load of threads about AdminExtra, AdminAddict and my own site being entirely populated with fake characters. Even though that is what HE does with his own site. He seems to forget the little nuances of speech that creep into his posts, which are then also used by all the characters he creates. Which is ok in itself, that's one valid tactic for getting a new forum going - create content. The strange thing is how he then berates other sites for that tactic, even though those sites do not actually do it. Weird. His best one, over a year ago when I actually did join his site, was that he banned me because he said I was sharing my account with Kier Darby! (This was before XenForo was even known about). I think what he wants to do, is get people to go onto his site, sign up, and start arguing with him in the threads he starts about them. Sadly for him, nobody actually does. I could tear him apart in such a thread, and so could many people here, but I don't want to because I really don't believe he is a "bad" person, and I think it would do him no good at all. It would be a form of cyber bullying. I do genuinely pity him, I don't think the internet does him much good, I think he gets himself worked up into a terrible state. He should switch the computer off for a few weeks and have a beak from it all. I mean the above in a genuine way. I won't really make any further comment on him now, I think it only gets him agitated and that makes him even worse.
Yeah I will get round to that shortly, I've had a look on the site a few times. I don't have any sort of test bed at the moment though so I can't test. I did use it briefly on ChemicalKicks' site (The SPF) and it seemed to be running quite nicely on there.
No worries...in a couple of weeks everything will be wiped clean...again...and nobody will give a damn...again.
lol @ there being a laugh of the week thread on here. Looks like I missed it when it was in it's prime.
From a few months back in the Licensed Customer Feedback Forum (link). It was more the juxtaposition of username and thread title that was amusing, rather than the thread content itself.
If you scroll up, you'll see the screenshot in one of JDW's posts earlier in this thread Basically it's the thread title and who it was posted by who caused the smiles - "How is vBulletin doing as a company? by Worried"
yah I knew that I was wondering what was inside that LOL... But yeah the stuff with VB is pathetic and that interview.... "no comment" on a lot of stuff that really mattered.
