Does anyone use IPB's Hosting packages for their forums. I spotted an update earlier stating that Invision are changing the way they meter and track data on sites hosted with them and I was wondering if this has affected anyone using their hosted option. More info HERE
I have never considered using it. Although it's nice you get access to addons and you do not have to worry about the server I find it to be far to expensive for me. A friend of mine used it and really enjoyed the fact he did not have to worry about anything but he went off it back to MyBB for reasons. No bad ones. As a webmaster who loves doing what I do I actually much prefer handling all my own stuff on my own hosting/server. I feel that the hosted communities far more suite forums that aren't intended to be a completely forum driven website. As for the update from reading it sounds like it's a good step and anyone on a hosted community should be pretty happy with the new resources. I guess in the end though my opinion is rather bias as I have not personally used the service. /end random ordered statements o.0
I been trying out the hosted services and as good as it is i would rather own a licence and then I could use my own server i even converted my site to it, my currrent ipb is at http://labradorforum.invisionzone.com and my mybb version is at http://lab-lovers.com
