But, one does need a female in their life, so I broke down and allowed this gorgeous lady into my life. Picked her up today.
She hasn't earned it yet. I have a couple of months before I have to send off her registration paperwork, so she'll have plenty of time to earn her name. And before the cries of "But you're just going to call her pup or dog?!" issue forth, she's deaf. So it doesn't matter. I'll just have to hope the name she earns is easy to sign (yes, dogs can learn sign language).
She has finally earned her name. PeeTee. Short for pillow thief. She doesn't want her own pillow. She wants the one YOUR head is on.
Haha, that is adorable. D: You've made me want a puppy so bad now, I am bugging my boyfriend for one.
You might want to consider getting a rescue dog. Most of the time they are already house broken and they're always in need of a good home.
We got a rescue dog and now it's us that need to be rescued. She wasn't house broken but now our house is broken so that balanced out. I told the Mrs "It's me or the dog..." Posted via Wi-Fi from an alleyway beside McDonalds.
Cute... I am not a big pet person. I mean I get along with other people's pets but I struggle to remember to feed myself when I get caught up yet alone anything else (including the kids its normally them who remind me) so I tend to shy away from getting pets Had a Gold Fish once... but it died. Great photos though and thanks for sharing.
**cry** I hate rainy days. PeeTee was changed to Trixie. And while I'm glad she doesn't mind getting wet or dirty, there are times when I REALLY don't feel like giving her a bath. Today's bath day.
LOL I didn't realize this was an old post. It's nice to see how big she's grown. She is a beauty! She looks like she had fun, but I'm sure she's thinking not enough fun to get a bath! Have you had any problems signing with her? It's such a smart breed, so I'm sure she learned fast.
She's an absolute jewel and minds the hand signals very well. As long as it's me doing the signing. LOL I've been involved with the breed for over 14 years now, and I can't think of any previous dog I've had (and there's been a lot of 'em) that has the sweetness and charisma Trixie has. She really is a special dog.
I'm a softy for dogs. We rescued our dog from one of the worst people I've ever heard of. This guy tried suffocating her and drowning her...then he brought her into the Humane Society (while my wife was there to pick up a friend who worked there) saying that if they didn't take her that he would take her out back and shoot her. They said they didn't have any room, so my wife took her out of the cage with bent wires poking in (caught one of her toes, now its a flaccid toe), and let her walk around. My wife was the only person she would go near, and started playing with a toy in my wife's hand. So my wife took a picture, sent it to me, told me the story... The rest is history She's been great for me...didn't have a dog growing up (that I remember) and she's been an absolute dream. Your dog is beautiful! It's nice to hear about more great owners out there!
There's a special place in hell for those who abuse animals. I grew up with all sorts of critters. Dogs, cats, birds, raccoon, horses, etc. (Want an interesting pet? Try a raccoon. It's like having a perpetual 2 year old in the house! >.< ) As such, I've always had a special touch with animals, even those who are supposedly unmanageable.
