Do you use linkbaiting on your community? For those who don't know, linkbaiting is when you utilise methods to entice people to link to your site in one form or another - some might use controversial subjects which cause others to link to it with the shock factor "have you seen this?", others offer helpful information that people share. Have you managed to use linkbaiting effectively on your sites?
I'm looking into seeding some related-but-not-in-the-same-space communities (we do writing-based RPG, so indexing ourselves better at TVTropes or NaNoWriMo seems logical, for example), but none of the controversial link stuff. But, my audience wouldn't be coming from sensationalist links anyway. =)
Sometimes we get guides that are kind of boring with titles. I'll usually send pm to ask if we can update the title, then post the newly titled links in other forums that support Sacred 2. I've always liked really fun titles, having them to post in other forums with a good guide behind them has been successful. gogo
