For the record my little brother made a game out of getting me in trouble and I took who knows how many whoopin's because of him. So any punch to the face he got over the years was well deserved. But go ask him who saved him from drowning and see what he says.

At any rate i suggest taking any personal issuses you might have with anthor user to private messaging. If they continue to spill into public threads I am going to start having to begin the bad admin and I'm honestly too tired to deal with all that tonight.

I don't know what you meant here. I think you're not understanding my perspective here. :( Meh, whatever.
Try being me. I'm tired of people going like "I'm going to side with this person because this and that." I'm tired of these people who do "I agree with this guy because I like him, or what he's saying."

Carlos, no one has said they're siding with one person over another - most people in the thread are simply picking up on different points. The only accusations being made are coming from you :(

^I said this... This is how Biker responded:
To me, it sounds like a kid being part of a cliq, or group saying that just in spite. It sounds like to me "When more than one person agrees with each other it just means you're wrong!" And sometimes it [often] sounds like they're calling you stupid. Keyword: In Spite.

There's no spite. The fact of the matter is you are reading things into these posts that aren't there. Whether that's due to some bad experiences or not, I don't know. What he's saying is that maybe you should just consider that there is the possibility of you overreacting a little, due to those bad experiences.

Yeah, but he didn't have to say "When more than one individual says you're reading more than what's showing on the screen, one would think that perhaps they're right." It just rubs the person the wrong way. In fact, it's more like "let's rub it in!"

Maybe it does rub a person up the wrong way, but it is a valid point. Now, before you get all up in arms with me, hear me out.

One of my stepsons used to get into a lot of arguments with everyone, but he would always say it was never him, it was everyone else around him making him angry. As we pointed out, the emotion was his - it was his choice to become angry over what someone else was saying, not theirs. And I put the same thing to you. It's not everyone else's fault that you don't like what is being said and it's making you highly emotive about it. And before you start yelling that I'm blaming you, I'm not. I'm saying you should not allow other people's words to control your emotions, which in turn makes you reply with such aggression (whether meant or not) within your posts. You say if people like you, you'll like them right back - which is fine.. but it's very hard to get to a state of liking someone when all you are feeling is aggression pouring from them, no matter who its directed toward or why.

Well, yeah, that is what brothers are like! :p Heck, I'm pretty sure both my brother & myself are responsible for giving each other some concussions over the years but if either of us really needs something, neither will ask questions & just help (make fun of, yes, but ask no questions :roflmao: ).

I never said "if people like me, I'll like them back." I said "if people are nice to me, I'll be nice to them back."

It's like this, I gave you respect, regardless of the fact that you're the owner or admin of this place. Why? Because you came from a place where you're being nice, and courteous. Er. Something to that effect. o_O

Getting the thread back on topic

Here is another PRO for IPB that is something that Xenforo lacks and somethig i was able to do on MYbb.

    Mass Private messages.

Yes, Xenforo has notices but mass Pm works so much better and is WAY more useful to me.

I am able to keep my members informed of updates and changes to the site.
If i need to take the site offline like i will be tomorrow(I am frankly in an "i don't care mode" now), I am able to send them all PMs and they can view it when they get online.

I love the fact that it also pops up when you get PMs.

I had to always MANUALLY send the Pms one by one or Copy and paste all the member's name(and then be sure to add any new members who may have joined since the last C&P) with Xenforo.

Another thing about PMs that I Love with IPB vs XF......
With IPB i have the OPTION to add more people to the private message.

Suppose i want to send Brad, Carlos, Lilu, Biker and Barack all the same PM but maybe i don't want it to be a group PM then it would just send the message out to the usergroup i choose as individual PMs.

However if i want to add people to the PMs, i have that right :p

With xenforo, it automatically makes it a group PM.

*glad this thread is off me now lol*

And that's the only bit you comment on? I was halfway through writing the post, I couldn't remember if you said like or nice... replace like with Nice then .. the statement still stands :) It's hard to be nice to someone when all you feel is aggression.... etc etc etc

This was replaced by the invite to convo feature. Invite more members to that conversation. This works both as a [mass] PM replacement, but also a e-mail "newsletter" of sorts since after all, every new PM/PC is automatically sent to the e-mail address. So it's basically collateral damage.

New replies and responses to that convo is deemed as new e-mail, too. Works more like a reminder of that convo.

You used a little brother example in your last reply to me. I am the oldest of three; my brother is 2 years younger and my sister is 11 year younger than myself. I love them both dearly, in my brothers case our Mom wasn't around much (she remarried in 1996) and my Dad worked 12 hour swing shifts and sometimes out of town for weeks.

Granted I have my grandparents (thank god) but who do you think was the one keeping an eye on my little brother a lot of the time? Me. Like I said he thought it was fun to get me into trouble all of the time, and Dad/Granddad/Mom/whoever was in charge were all old school. They all knew how to swing leather belts, shave down switches til they were perfect for drawing blood (on the legs, ouch!), and there was always the "proper slap" to the back of the head or face to be on the look out for.

This was not child abused its just how people raised their kids when I was growing up.

So when I say he "deserved" what he usually got.....well he did.

But if you mess with my bro that's another story, you gotta get through me first. Don't even get me started on what would happen to anyone that messed with my little sis (whom I held in my hands the day she was born).

No one is siding with anyone here as you have been told multiple times. You are taking things too personal. Please work your issues out with whoever is bothering you via private message so this thread can remain on topic.

If you have issues with how this forum is run you can make a thread in the feedback forum or send Azh and I a PM. I am not trying to single you out but if you continue to derail this thread I will have to start doing some moderating work.

It's just easier to communicate with my members with PMs vs the "conversation" style or emaiil style on XF.

Granted i do like the visual appeal XF has with the PMs but at the same time, it's harder to communciate.

espeically if need to send a mass pm out to all 300-400 members and the god forbid if ALL the members wanted to reply to said Pm that means the person in the convo would be getting tons of alerts. They can always leave the conversaton but still

Thank god I didn't grow up in your generation :p taking away PC and cellphone and restricting me to my bedroom without being able to see daylight except for the blinds is punishment enough :D

    Read and understood.
Read and understood. I get it, but what I was responding to was the "drowning" part. You love your brothers, I understand that. But in my example, I was trying to say that most and often times, resentment happens after your brother got you into trouble, and you're always the one who's blamed, not your brother. So, whatever game he had made your parents prone to blaming you, not him. This happens over and over and over, and over that often times, it becomes resentment. That resentment makes you want to do things to him back worse, and this hate builds up and makes you more prone to hateful remarks. That's what happpened in this thread. Young kept trolling but none of you staff or members saw through his BS. Only me, because I recognize sarcasm a lot, IRL or online. I recognize trolling IRL, or online. Because I see it every day, not once in a while.
Ah, don't worry about that. We get it too, us latinos. I was born in Nicaragua. Where a lot of that raising stuff you mentioned here, is a prominent precedence. I used to get it as a kid until I was old enough to call people on their BS.

For example, I was in my cousin's house trying to play a NES game, I go outside for a few seconds to see what's going on. Then out of nowhere, this stupid little kid followed me inside the house. My aunt gave me me this "Don't bring anyone in." When I didn't even tell him to! My girl cousin said I did. Guess who was lying? Her. I didn't tell this kid to come in, I didn't even know this kid. My other cousins were "buddies, buddies" with these people, and a few months later, they did something stupid enough to break it off. They weren't coming from a place of "buddies, buddies" they were coming from a place of "I'm an @$$hole."

No.. we didn't see it, because it isn't there! I'm sorry, Carlos, but you're wrong. You are seeing sarcasm, trolling, etc, because you expect to see it.. not because it's actually there.

I didn't expect to see it. In fact, I was calm at the time Young started doing this. I wasn't stressed at all. I woke up, chilled, and booom.

No, Young didn't. You read something in the post you decided you didn't like and them the boom happened. Sorry, Carlos, it's not always someone else's fault.
