Me and brogan are not "good friends" as you so put it. I respect what he's done for xenforo and that is where it ends. Trying to bait me will fail, I can see your frustrated by the whole thing (as are we all) but resorting to cheap tactics to get an argument, get brogan to spill the beans is just exposing how low your willing to stoop and resorting to desperation (not very attractive).

    Goodluck though. :)

Oh, I meant to go back and post an example of something I've build that isn't a stand alone thing...

    Side note - I'm not even sure what XF's "drama" is (nor do I really care). All I know is it doesn't affect me personally, so it's not an issue with "sticking it out". More an issue of I have better things to do than get wrapped up in other people's personal issues. {shrug}

I have a system where people can link up to 6 third party accounts to their Digital Point accounts (PayPal, AdSense, Google Analytics, Google+, Twitter and Facebook). Some of those account links then tie into various unrelated XF things I've built. Let's take just the Google Analytics link as an example...

We have a Analytics Globe tool that plots geographical data for any Analytics profile you have (pulling the profile list via the API)... you can rotate the globe around in 3D, etc...

You can see quick summaries of your Analytics stats in the site header:

Then if you are selling a site in our marketplace, you can optionally show real Analytics charts (data pulled automatically via the API).

So 3 totally unrelated functions that make use of just 1 of those 6 account links. If we were to make each system stand alone, you would end up having 3 links to your Analytics account for each of the 3 things. Just would make it kludgey in the end.

Another Side Note - I'm quite annoyed that Google has absolutely no migration path from their old AuthSub (or even OAuth 1.0) API calls to their new OAuth 2.0 system. This means that the 4,527 existing users who have their Google Analytics account linked to their DP accounts will no longer have them linked until they reauthorize under OAuth 2.0 (the XF version of everything uses the newer OAuth 2.0 systems).

Really cool... Okay kind of unrelated but is this all stuff a member gets either by paying for a monthly membership on your site? How much is it again I forgot.

Looking at all this stuff makes me want to get involved with Digital Point Ads again because I have several members on my site who has asked for ad space.

Lets please stop all the personal attacks and what-not in this thread. I'd hate to see it go down a bad path because everyone has been nice to each other for the most part.

Going to have to keep an eye on this thread. -,-

No, everything in those screenshots is free. We *do* have a premium membership on the site (ranges from $25/month to $125/year), but none of that stuff has anything to do with it.

You can do all that stuff on the existing vB version of the site too... for example the Analytics Globe: http://tools.digitalpoint.com/analytics-globe

...and now you understand that rewriting ~1.3M lines of custom code for the XenForo framework is no joke. And that I'm actually still writing code, not just being lazy and not migrating.

Impossible to migrate a site that is working fine without retaining at least the existing functionality. :)

Oh yeah... and I still have to actually run/manage the *existing* site too. :)

Do you pay your mods? Thats a lot of work. I was checking out your twitter forum because building up my twitter is my current project, when I realized that I saw some scam artists/spammers in there. It's a good thing I know how to detect that stuff these days. I don't see how you can moderate at the same time. You would have to do a lot of delegating of tasks to get stuff done. I wish I could do that on my own site but I have to do everything myself.

I was an unpaid volunteer, although I was provisionally offered a job once everything settled down.

My disquiet is due to the way in which customers were being kept in the dark (and still are) and after one particular statement was made.

So far from being bitter, all I had to do was play along and there was a job at the end of it.

I can criticise aspects of XenForo and be friends with Mike - the two are not mutually exclusive.

I talk to Mike almost every day on Skype, about personal stuff non-related to XenForo. For example, he showed me what furniture he got at IKEA, which was a great choice as I have the same. :D
A while ago, he specifically asked me not to inquire about current XenForo situation and instead to follow the announcements... and that is exactly what I do. That does not stops me from criticising XenForo administration on their forums.

This really sums up where I'm at with all this too. I've lost enough time getting sucked into all the drama...not even sure why I'm here reading all this "stuff" from last night when I should be coding. *runs off to do just that* :blamebrad:
