Hey All, Well it's been a while since I have posted here and thought I would update everyone. I have ditched vBulletin - yes you read right this vBulletin Fan Boy has ditched the company and moved to Invision Power Services. Reading through my posts it's funny because in the past I was with IPBoard for about a week and hated it, however now that I am more familiar with the product, and they have made giant improvements I have made the switch. I am writing here because I have just received my second board that I am attempting to set up - however I need some help with IP.Converge. I have my main website and my new website on the same hosting just different domain names, what I am attempting to do is get it where people are able to register and one domain/site and are able to go and post on both of the sites. For example: User A registers on Website B and due to cross promotion wants to check out Website A, they go there and like what they see. I want to set it up where UserA can simply log into Website A if they like it and there would be no need to re-register. I have looked at IP.Converge for the first time this morning however it completely baffles me and I was wondering if anyone was able to walk me through - step-by-step and tell me how it can be set up properly to handle the stuff I want to do. Your help would be greatfully appreciated.
First, do you have ionCube installed on your server? If not, then contact your host and get the ionCube Loaders installed. IP.Converge ships with them but it's better if it's just loaded into PHP to begin. Once they are installed, download IP.Converge and install it. Important note: Do not install IP.Converge in the same directory as IP.Board, as this will absolutely obliterate your board. IP.Converge is an independent application, so must be placed in it's own folder. Once that is done, we can proceed from there.
I found Converge pretty easy to use. I was a bit worried about breaking my sites so I actually installed it on a separate one hehehe From there, I found it pretty simple. If memory serves I logged into converge, linked all the sites and that was it. Let me see if I can find the instructions I followed (might take an hour or two since it's still early and I have school runs etc to do).
Sorry, been busy. First, make sure the Converge Log In Module is enabled in IPB. Then, what you need to do is you need to register your IP.Board with IP.Converge. Go to the IP.Converge Admin Panel, and go to the Applications tab. Once there, you should instantly see the "Add New Product" form. Fill it out appropriately, and Save. This will test the connectivity between Converge and IP.Board and, if successful, save the configuration. Repeat the process for each additional IP.Board you wish to Converge.
With your help I was able to get it all set up (quite easy now I know what I am doing). I am just reading through all the different admin boards, ipb related sites etc as I am starting a new venture (Horror related) and want to make sure I make it one of the best Your assistance with this issue was greatly appreciated.
