So what does everybody think of the new service that will be available with IP.Board 3.4? If you haven't read about it yet here is the blog link for it - http://community.invisionpower.com/blog/1174/entry-8017-introducing-ips-cdn-service/
It's an interesting proposition, but personally I would prefer a fixed-price service where you can chose your data ceiling. With the pay-as-you-go model they are proposing you would need to monitor and/or respond to low credit emails and top-up - with a fixed-price service it should be set and forget, with an occasional adjustment of data cap to suit the growth of your site. It also begs the question - what new strings will IPS be adding to their bow next?
IPS are expanding their services quite nicely I wish nothing but the best for them. While I used IPS for a while and decided it wasn't for me, I have nothing but respect for what they are achieving!
Me too ( https://twitter.com/ragtek/status/233599385622171648 ) They're IMO the only commercial forum company with continuous development & a good information policy. Sadly i never fall in love with ipb3 like with vB3 or xf
It's never too late; we're quite lovable. Thank you all for your kind words and I'm glad you're liking what we're doing.
I am giving IPB another look as well, actually. I always did have a soft spot for Charles and Uncle Matty. Too bad I couldn't wrangle a discount out of you all for renewing about $700 worth of licenses...that's the only thing holding me back.
Please send me an e-mail at LThrogmartin {at} invisionpower dot com with your CID and I'll be happy to see what I can do for you.
We hope the CDN is something our clients start using. In this first implementation it's just images, CSS, and JavaScript but even that helps. In future implementations we really want to add CDN-storage which basically means file uploads wouldn't be stored locally but on the CDN instead.
IPS have always been the best around, It will be nice if they add up a little more on their free products (IP.SEO), I just think they can be improved. Thanks TechStation
IP.SEO has been merged into the core for IP.Board 3.4, so that should see more attention in the future releases.
