The last 2 weeks I've had more spam registrations than in the past 2 years. They seem to be targeting the classifieds mod.

I tried setting up a new user group, "New Members" for new users which would not allow them to post a classified or have a signature until they have 20 approved posts, but the seem to still be going straight to "members" after registration.

Is there a way to make this new mwmbers group the default group what am I doing wrong???

Get the member group ID number and open the config file. Change the member group ID to the ID of the new group.

Have you enabled the spam service on your site? I always had excellent luck using that function.

    Thanks everybody.

I will do group promotions, like planned, but I didn't realize my license expired and my spam monotoring service stopped. I renewed and am back down to normal.

    Really? That's....not cool :(

There isn't a local option you can use for spam filtering?
