Hey guys I'm always looking to see if anyone's been with a hoster for a long time to see if anyone has latched onto a great *secret* hoster that's remained hidden from the rest of us. For my own sites, it's been with MDD Hosting for 2 years now. You guys? gogo
Our current host - Knownhost - we've only been with for a couple of months. Mike54 has been with them a lot longer. Before that we were with Hostgator, I'd used them for about four years.
Ahhh, host gator. That's interesting as I've heard so much mixed reviews about them. Azhria, why did you leave them? You were with them for two years? And known host who you are with now... are you over the six month mark, or how close to a year? gogo
I used hostgator for about 4 years this time around, before that I had a break and went with someone else (I forget who) and before that I was again with hostgator... in fact, if memory serves I've used them on and off since around 2003 and rarely had any issues. I've been with Knownhost less than 6 months. We moved to them because our vps at hostgator was starting to run into a few issues, slowness, some unexplained downtime and I was looking for someone new to go with. Mike54 recommended Knownhost, I checked them out, had a chat or seven with their sales team, then took the plunge. They've been great so far
As Az pointed out, I'm with KnownHost and have been with them for three years. If their service remains at the same level, I'll never leave them. I've gone from a position of always looking to see what another host might be offering to a position of not worrying about my hosting at all. A pal I help on another site moved over to MDD about a year ago. She's had impressive service from them, as well.
Thanks guys, this is great. Just hearing which hosters people have been with for more than 1 and even more is excellent. Staying with someone this long is telling, and rare. Anymore long term host/customer relationships out there? gogo
I have been with WiredTree for over two years now and am thrilled with our relationship. I have nothing remotely close to a complaint whatsoever. Outstanding service.
I was with a company called 987mb.com for just over a year, but had some issues with support and a plugin i wanted on my forum. In november i tried shockinghost.com for a month, and the service was top notch so switched to them in december and paid for a year, and can see us being with them at least to november when i will decide whether or not to keep the site running.
I've been with Tsohost for around five or six years. I have multiple sites hosted with them and the only downtime I recall was due to a catastrophic server failure after which they had my sites back up in hours with no loss of data. They are very cost effective and tickets usual get answered within minutes at any time of day or night.
Hi Zappa! I like right off the bat that they don't offer unlimited this or unlimited that...makes me trust them because I then know exactly what the limits are. The prices on TSO look great...cept do they have any packages that run at about half a terrabyte of gigs per month? As well, I'm in Canada... will having my hosting in Britain impact speeds of my community? gogo
In regard to bandwidth I'd ask as they are very approachable. I've had a few needs that are outside of their advertised packages and they have always been happy to accommodate them, sometimes without additional cost. Localised servers (to your user base) are always going to be a little more responsive in terms of latency of course but I wouldn't have thought there would any other noticeable differences.
GoDaddy VPS server here since October 29 2009. Always been a great host to me with support within a few minutes.
I was with iFuseHosting for two years, then they sold the company and went downhill so moved to Tech-Hosts and spent about 1-2 years then and just recently moved to SimplexWebs
