I've been working on the header for Hockey D, for which I am the tech admin. The trophies were chosen by the owner, so those are not negotiable, but regarding everything else I have pretty much creative control. So... comments, criticism, anything will be helpful.
First glance - looks like a perfume advert - then I noticed it was trophies and not perfume bottles ... Having looked at the site though I think the red/pink hue is at odds with the blue surround and I'd like to see it with a blue overlay to see how it looks instead? Technically, one thing I noticed, the trophy on the far right is somewhat cut off from the rest by the visual "slash" of the playing line of the ice background and the fact that there is a much larger space between it and the other trophies (that thick black line acts as quite a bold separator). Not sure if this is intentional due to the "prize" nature of that particular trophy but personally I'd either move the background over to the right to remove it, or at least bring the other trophies over to the right to the space between them all is relatively equal. Maybe push them all a little further to the right so there is more spacing around the left-hand site name/logo? Cheers, Shaun
Thank you clickfinity. The blue on the sides of the page is now gone. The reasoning behind the Rocket Richard trophy being on the very right is because: a.it is not exactly the same as the other trophies and b.it is meant as a bonus for those with larger screens. Here is an earlier version of the header with blue overlay: ...and black and white: Do you think either of the above look better than the red overlay?
So I spent the whole day testing today and the blue didn't really work out overall. But, with feedback of some admins and one awesome member I ended up redoing the forum quite a bit. What do you think?
