ForumCon is the only conference that is exclusively for forum administrators and other community admins -- the 1-day event brings together some of our industry’s top experts and forum owners to discuss and share growth, management, and monetization strategies. This year I’m pleased to announce that Admin Extra will be one of a select group of media partners that will have a presence at the show. What this means is that while we ourselves cannot be there, since we're mostly based in the UK, we may just have a couple free tickets to give away here and there! Below are the key details for this year’s 1-day event in San Francisco on June 12th, as well as a sneak preview interview with one of the event’s Founders, Jack Bafia -- he shares how he got his start in forum ownership and what forum administrators can expect to get out of the event. San Francisco June 12th ForumCon SF will take place on June 12th at the Hotel Kabuki in downtown San Francisco. The event kicks off at 9am and concludes with a cocktail hour at a lounge nearby. More information on location as well as how to get tickets can be found here. Leading Sessions Kris Jones, author of SEO: Your visual blueprint for effective internet marketing will show you how to better leverage Google Search, Mobile, News, +, to generate more traffic to your forum. Tyler Tanaka of PostRelease will share best practices for content curation & creation that will wow your community members and keep them coming back. Steve Dodd of Boardreader will lead a panel of social media experts, and forum owners that have successfully leveraged social media, to discuss ways forum owners can successfully leverage Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites to drive traffic to their sites (rather than away from). A panel of monetization experts (representing all types of forum monetization options -- images, banner ads, content, link insertion, data, video) will answer all your questions on how to EARN MORE from your forum. And much more, to be shared within this thread as the information become available. The Co-Founder on How ForumCon Got It’s Start Jack Bafia, ForumCon co-founder and Chief Monetization Officer of VigLink, shares how the event got it’s start -- as well as how he got his start in the forum community, in the short video below. “I wanted to provide forum owners with a venue to congregate, network and get better at being an administrator … for me, ForumCon is just that … it allows me to meet new people, put faces to names, and learn new things.” Jack Bafia Forum Owner Co-Founder, ForumCon Chief Monetization Officer, VigLink
I'm trying to make arrangements to attend this event, but I'm not sure if I can at the moment. If I do get to go I hope to see some of you guys there. I've never met most of the people I've worked with this last 12 years or so in person so it'd be a ton of fun for me.
ForumCon Co-Founder Oliver Roup: Why I Started ForumCon “A great deal of our customers are forum owners and in talking to them we realized that there was no great place for forum owners to meet... and discuss the industry, and we realized a lot of the leaders in the field had never met each other..." Oliver Roup Co-Founder, ForumCon Founder and CEO, VigLink
When will we see ForumCon UK? It would be great to meet and steal be inspired by other peoples ideas.
Julia Barret Senior Manager, Marketing eBay Partner Network As Julia says, "Let's use [as an example] [forums about motors]... [There might be] a team of people chatting away about one particular motor versus another motor, for that traffic to come back to eBay, and targeting that specific motor that they're talking about and... vouching for or promoting... it's great for us because we're obviously going to see a conversion come out of that..."
Dan's presentation may be a little on the long side, but it's well worth watching, there are some great insights into engagement, content and monetising. I'm looking forward to seeing some videos from ForumCon 2012
Unfortunately it's on the West Coast and we're on the East Coast. And have already paid for BlogWorld Expo. would have loved going to forumcon though
I'm sorry. This one's in the summer and it's only for a day which should make it more accessible for most people, but not everyone is able to go. Steve Dodd ForumCon TV
Hopefully Admin Talk gives me the ticket to go... but we'll see. I live in the area, so no problem attending.

At ForumCon 2011, a panel of experts takes a closer look at the affiliate nexus tax. Most online transactions are untaxed, especially those where the purchaser is in a different state than the seller. State affiliate nexus taxes would extend sales taxes to online purchases. What do you think about it? Steve Thayer Partner, Handler Thayer Brian Littleton CEO, ShareASale Michelle Waldorf Entrepreneur, eSeller Street http://theforumcon.com http://VigLink.com
