So lets get a nice thread started on the opinions of fellow forum owners on here! If we could write an official forum owners code of conduct that all forum owners should go by, what would you add to the code? I will go first... 1. When you start a new forum, don't add too many boards, subforums and categories.
3. Don't over generalise, having a board for every subject under the sun as that just leads to a very empty forum. Start small and add more boards as the forum grows and there is an obious demand.
[sub]4. DO research the niche you're intending on entering.[/sub] 5. DON'T start a forum just because you are angry with another site - it never ends well!
Don't start a forum, just to try and make money from Google AdSense. Don't start a forum based (on the trend of the moment), start one about something your actually interested in and very knowledgeable about. Avoid starting a forum to cover games, they are popular one minute - totally forgotten about the next.
Hey thats what I did and just 3 years later I'm dominating the other forum. As for the list I'd say don't be to quick to moderate/delete posts.
Yes but did you do it in an angry mindset.. or did you sit and think about what you wanted to do differently?
Don't promote an empty forum. Make sure the forum has topics and (at least) all boards filled before promoting it.
