I have the commercial license and had the same experience Wordpress is a more than capable substitute.

Actually, it's called Crystal Core. Named after my site. :giggle:

It's a Framework rather than a full CMS. However, thanks to it's design a CMS is not outside of it's scope.

In fact, there isn't really anything outside of the scope of Crystal Core, which is what I love and the reason I coded it. I can take the Core, throw in a few Data Management classes, and have a functional CMS on one site, then take that same base, throw in some different classes, and have a full Issue Tracker on another site.

Eventually, it will power all of my sites in some fashion. It will inevitably replace WordPress on my Blog.

What really makes me proud, is that Mike personally said he wanted to take the Registry implementation in Crystal Core, expand it, and implement it into ImperialBB in a future version. :D

I prefer Joomla and Wordpress. Joomla for complex projects and Wordpress for just posting some resources.

I prefer WordPress when looking to use a CMS, it can do whatever you want it to do and is very flexible when in the right developing hands.

Drupal with a few essential plugins (views, panels, etc) really comes into it's own.

Drupal is my favourite too. I really value the option to remove/add features at will :D

Old thread I know but has anyone ever tried DLE (DataLife Engine) it's not that bad. The English support for it does appear poor though as it's primarily a Russian script.

For small things, I like Wordpress. For big ones, I just love Drupal 7

    OFF SUBJECT:

Actually, while he was building his framework, I had the honor of actually helping him with designing and building a lot of it. I must tell you, the framework is insanely easy to use, with all the tools needed to create most anything you want. The template engine is quite powerful for how simple it is, I should know since he rode my ass constantly to work in template conditionals for it. :S

Gee, thanks for mentioning that I helped build it as well  . Never the less, the registry implementation is actually quite good. Expanded a bit of course, I believed it could suite the needs of iBB at the time.

    ON SUBJECT:

Quite honestly, I'd just build my own to suite my tastes and needs, but if I were to pick, it'd probably be ocPortal or ExpressionEngine. These scripts are incredibly flexible and easy to use. Wordpress seems to do the trick for content management purposes, however it really isn't a CMS script. Drupal is quite powerful and does the trick for most, but really isn't my taste.

Oh.. freakin'.. wow. Maybe I should pay attention to the actual year it was posted and not the date, leave it to me to actually screw up something like this huh. Lol

    EDIT:

Just a note to all, this is what high consumption of alcohol does to you over time, while coding. :)

    Currently my favorite is wordpress.

Over the years I have tried drupal, joomla, dragonfly, mdpro/maxdev, mkportal (mkportal has been closed), xoops,,,, and a few others.

Wordpress has a little bit of a learning curve, but once you get past that curve everything is fine.

I like to use Wordpress as a CMS when I need one. I have used lots of others over the last 6 years or so and Wordpress is the one that I can do the most with. I'm using it at the moment as a video games database :D
