You're not a fanboy you're just loyal to the product you use. Nothing wrong with that. I used to be the same way.

I on the other hand was always quick to call a dog a dog and have always been very vocal and at times critical when half baked features get thrown into a product. The old team did that with vbulletin 3. If you were around back then we were told it would be a total rewrite. 2 and 1/2 years later when gold was released it was still functioning on the v2 code base.

Then we heard that 4.0 was being worked on and it would be a total rewrite. We then got 3.5 and quess what still the same old code with more features. Even still the products were bug free and worked without a hitch. Customers put up with the old team because we knew in the end the final product would be stable and reliable. If IB had said this was a beta product instead of stamping it as gold you wouldn't see near as many complaints that you see now.

I for one can't stand being lied to. IB did lie to it's customer by releasing the garbage known as vbulletin 4. Will the CMS actually turn into a CMS or will it be like the archive and stay as it is now? There was a time when a true archive was said to be in the works. We all know how that is going.

Fair enough - all understandable as I mentioned I got suckered into the vB pre-sale thing and therefore seem I had already spent the money instead of rushing off now to another software I may as well ride the wave and see how it all goes - if it doesn't work out I can always jump ship when they announce the upgrades to vb5.

It may seem a picayune point to most people, but I don't view my move from vB to IPB as 'jumping ship'. It does appear the USS (HMS, if you prefer ;)) vBulletin is sinking, but it wasn't as if I needed to save myself by grasping at whatever might keep me afloat.

I researched the options available to me and honestly feel I made a very positive step forward by switching to IPB.
