    Not bad...

When I first started Umpire-Empire I had a shared account on Hostgator. All was fine. Good service, very little down time. They responded well to my support requests. I have no regrets having used them.

I left Hostgator after I decided to get a reseller account. Theirs were too expensive and too limiting for me.

    Great Host

HG has always provided outstanding services for me, great 24/7 support, very little down time only bad point is the prices are often much higher then other hosts.

always refering my small clients to HG when i do not host them myself...

For small websites, HG is the best... not only because they have accounts that fit needs instead of fitting dreams of freebies, people get what they need instead of what they could one day use.

no downtime... if you need support they have their forum but also a live support that is usually very fast to be answered... and they have guys who knows the answers...

they are never asking you to upgrade and pay more just to have more features... they actually offer the exact same features for all their bundles, you upgrade only if you need more speed or space. that's good, because most of the hosts i know are telling my clients " you will be answered if you pay high price for the biggest bundle " ... " your site is at risk because your software is not supported on our installation - pay more and we will fix it for you "... never on HG.

    Customer for 6 years

I've used Hostgator shared (reseller) "SwampCroc" for my forums for over 6 years, first vBulletin, then Xenforo.

They did all the work for me to get me out of my nightmare at registerFly, transferring all my files and databases.

Support has been pretty good with a a few bumps. They're not real good about notifying you ahead of time when there are going to be changes to your server. One time they even reverted a two week old backup of files which caused me some grief. They aren't real good about identifying changes when you inquire about what has been changed on your server. At times, this has been frustrating.

They are excellent as far as instant live support. Uptime is nearly perfect.

Some limitations: No APC with shared hosting.

Benefits: Unlimited databases. 50 gigs of storage. 24/7 Live chat support. Cpanel. Good price.

All in all, I give them 9 out of 10 rating.

    Customer for a Year

I started my forum a year ago, and have been using Hostgator since. I switched to DotVPS, only because I was given free VPS hosting for a while, but switched back after a month. They have almost 100% uptime, if not so, and it's easy to get a hold of them. Not only that, their live support actually knows what they're talking about and only doesn't if they don't have the power to do so. All in all, they are a great host, a bit pricey but that's what you get for good hosting, services, and support.
