Default Spam Free?

I already got recaptcha as the spam setting, I have it where you have to choose a picture at the beginning of registration but a few spammers keep getting through. I also made it just today that you have to have 3 posts to send PMs, email, post links and visitor messages...

Is there anything else I need to do to help me prevent spam?

I'm using the same but turned off the option to check against user names; was getting too many false hits.

Akismet works wonders, when set properly.

The Nospam! modification has always worked perfectly for us and that is our only spam protection.

That's great to know - I was considering adding that but wasn't sure if it really worked. My number of fake accounts is getting really really annoying.

lol.

There will always be spam, using automated tools to stop it could also potentially stop valid users coming in.

Well the ones who post right away aren't a problem to get obviously. But I have people making 10 accounts, pming the whole board, and it's just gotten ridiculous.
