Question Fake Google Spider

An interesting search spider has been crawling through one of my forums.

Its known as... Google Spider
IP... 74.208.162.212
But when resolved... u15331979.onlinehome-server.com

That's not Google!

To block or not to block that is the question?

also you can check that IP against the database at Stop Forum Spam to see if it's listed.

I think that's why it's dangerous to rely on the user-agent alone. Fake bots should be blocked by IP as there is potential for mischief (otherwise why would they fake their ID?)

You should deny the IP address at the server level and send them to a 403 error page, or find a spammer site and send them there.
