Default Member Searches?

Do you keep an eye on what keywords your members search with on your forum? Does it help with marketing new features and topics at all? What do you think about this method?

Well I think it would be helpful on most forums such as your weather forum, if you seen someone searching something like "how to chase a storm" perhaps, you could always go and create an article on that subject so the next time it is searched it is there for them to read.

What we have done is added a useful site info forum with numerous FAQ's in there, if we see someone searching something which can be answered we will add it within there.

I don't check it regularly, but I usually find some good ideas as to what to add to my site when I look.

I have a modification called googletagged.

Any thread that is visited via google displays the search terms used. This helps me when creating new threads and gives me focus on rich keyword terms and phrases to use.

How do you tell what terms people are searching for on your forum?

I look at the key words people come to the site using in Google Analytics.

Some forum software packages have an option to log search queries, 2dub; in vB you could use a mod like this: Search Log - vBulletin.org Forum
